ডাঃ লক্ষীনারায়ণ ত্রিপাঠী, মেডিকা ইনস্টিটিউট অফ নিউরোলজিক্যাল ডিজিজেস (এমআইএনডি) (বর্তমানে মণিপালহাসপাতালের একটি অংশ) এর সিনিয়র ভাইস চেয়ারম্যান, ডিরেক্টর ও সিনিয়র কনসালট্যান্ট বলেন, “জীবনযাত্রার কারণ, চাপ এবং অলক্ষিত সতর্কতার লক্ষণগুলির কারণে তরুণদের মধ্যে স্ট্রোকের ঘটনা বাড়ছে। আমরা বিভিন্ন ক্ষেত্রে দেখতে পাচ্ছিযে আজকাল প্রায় ১০-১৫ শতাংশ স্ট্রোক ১৮-৫০ বছর বয়সী মানুষের মধ্যে ঘটে। এই উদ্যোগটির মাধ্যমে আমরা কলকাতায়স্ট্রোকের সংখ্যা হ্রাস করার জন্য এবং ওষুধের পরিবর্তে প্রতিরোধের উপর দৃষ্টি নিবদ্ধ করতে চাই। যেহেতু এই ধরনের ঝুঁকি এবংপ্রতিরোধের ব্যবস্থা সম্পর্কে আরো সচেতনতা শহরবাসীদের মধ্যে ছড়িয়ে দিতে হবে যাতে স্ট্রোকের ঘটনা হ্রাস করা সম্ভব কার যায়।”

Kolkata, October 24, 2024: The 20th World Congress of Endoscopic Surgery (WCES 2024), the flagship event of the International Federation of Societies of Endoscopic Surgeons (IFSES), was inaugurated today at the Biswa Bangla Convention Centre in Kolkata. This year’s congress is held in conjunction with the 22nd Annual Conference of the Indian Association of Gastrointestinal Endo Surgeons (IAGES), bringing together over 2,000 delegates, including more than 200 international faculties and 1,000 trainees from around the world.

The WCES-IAGES 2024 serves as a tribute to the late Prof. T.E. Udwadia, the founding president of IAGES, honoring his legacy of compassion and innovation in the field of endoscopic surgery. The conference has attracted participation from multiple global societies, including the Society of Endo-Laparoscopic Surgeons of Bangladesh, the Society of Surgeons of Pakistan, the Association of Laparoscopic Surgeons of Great Britain and Ireland, and others from across Asia, Europe, and the Americas.

Kolkata, October 2024 – The much-anticipated Greatest Show on Earth (GSOE) Awards, organized by The Greatest Show on Earth, a Union Ministry of Tourism-recognized entity, celebrated the grandeur of Durga Puja by honouring puja committees with budgets of Rs 60 lakh and below. This prestigious event focused on recognizing the contributions of idol artists, theme designers, and lighting artists, highlighting their creativity and craftsmanship that brought the iconic festival to life.

Mr Arnab Basu, co-founder of GSOE said “The GSOE Awards nurture talent whereby giving 60 percent of the prize money to idol artists, theme designers, and lighting artists, aiming to empower them.”

Bodhisattva Banerjee, another co-founder of the organisation said, “This year, more than 350 participants registered. After screening, 12 finalists were selected by the GSOE team from which eight were declared for the titles.”

The star-studded judging panel included popular actors Rajatabh Dutta, Priyanka Sarkar, Sauraseni Maitra, and Sourav Das, alongside international representatives Ian Taylor from Manchester, UK, and a four-member French delegation. Representatives from Indo-German Chamber of Commerce, former IFA Chairman, and George Telegraph MD were also part of the panel.

The top winners include Ahiritola Sarbojanin and Hatibagan Sarbojanin for the Best Theme. In Best Art and Environment category, the judges selected Dum Dum Park Tarun Sangha as first followed by Bosepukur Shitala Mandir. The Best Statue category went to Dum Dum Park Tarun Dal in the first spot and Kashibose Lane in second spot. Among the other prominent awards included Best Kolkata Puja which went to Rajdanga Nabodaya Sangha, Best Surprise of the Year was given to Kankurgachi Chalantika Club and Lalabagan Nabankur.

Meanwhile, The GSOE Awards expanded their reach beyond Kolkata this year, recognizing excellence in districts like Howrah, Kalyani, and Baruipur, with Mandirtala General Durgotsab Committee, Kalyani A9 Square and Pragati Sangha respectively.

The grand finale of this cultural festival is set to take place on October 27 at the historic Khelat Ghosh Rajbari in Pathuriaghata, where the trophies will be presented by GSOE co-founders, international representative Ian Taylor, actress Ditipriya Roy, and actor Rajdeep Gupta.
